Ingredients
- 2 cups dogwood berries
- 6 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the dogwood berries and place them in a large pot with 6 cups of water.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes, or until the berries are soft and the liquid is a deep pinkish-red color.
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher or bowl, pressing down on the berries to extract as much juice as possible.
- Add 1 cup of sugar to the juice, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
- Stir in 1/2 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice.
- Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until ready to serve.
- To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the dogwood punch over the ice. Garnish with fresh mint leaves, if desired.
